It’s never a bad time to leave a toxic environment.

During the tail end of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion on Tuesday, Garcelle Beauvais skipped out on the cast photo and exited stage left. Her co-stars, seemingly stunned by the walk off, took the moment to gossip and theorize about her abrupt departure rather than offer compassion. Regardless of where fans stand on the toxic bullying that has dominated the franchise, Garcelle’s split decision was not only the right move, the timing was perfect.

When it comes to quitting, women — especially Black women — are held to a different standard. We’re expected to be polite in the face of browbeating and to stick it out no matter what. Walking away is seen as a weakness, but it’s actually a strength.

Garcelle is a Sagitarrius, and the only fire sign on RHOBH. The astrological imbalance put her at a disadvantage in finding a true ally on the show. Because she’s a first phase, November Sagitarrius, she carries a good amount of Scorpio energy, which gives her a blend of fire and water. As a Sagitarrius, she’s certainly fiery enough to burn anything in her path, should she shoes to do so. Her decision to maintain composure while being ganged up on, proves her power and inner growth. Even though fans would’ve probably liked for her to clap back harder and go toe-to-toe with her adversaries, sometimes it’s better to hold back and walk away.

Garcelle has nothing to prove to these women, or to fans of the show.

From an astrological persepctive, the struggle of the fire sign is maintaining balance in the heart. Sagittarians, like most fire signs, tend to experience deeply traumatic and devastating betrayals and losses earlier in life. An early exposure to heartbreak can manifest in different ways, namely in keeping your emotions locked away. By nature, fire Sagitarrians are warm, loving and open to adventure. As a fire sign, it’s good to have a mix of elements around you: air signs to change the atmosphere and lift your spirits, earth sign to keep you grounded, water signs to sooth and extinguish emotional fires that you might have trouble battling alone, and a fellow fire sign who understands your passionate heart. Having an imbalance of elements on a cast dominated by aggressive water signs is a recipe for disaster. Dorit Kemsley and Erika Girardi are first phase July Cancerians, Kyle Richards is a first phase January Capricorn (Cancer’s opposite sign) and Bozoma St. John is a first phase January Aquarius on the edge of Capricorn. Cancer and Capricorn have a storied, typically rocky relationship riddled with emotional highs and lows. Cancers struggle with emotional regulation and turn to emotional manipulation and bullying in order to maintain dominance.

Capricorns rule the brain space and tend to be in their heads a lot more than they’d like to admit. They argue in a similar fashion (“What were you thinking? I hope you feel good about yourself!”). Aquarians struggle with maintaining transparency and tend to curate an outer appearance that reflects how they would like to be perceived, which can manifest into mental anxiety, masking, and extreme people pleasing.

Understanding the zodiac, and how different signs relate and react to each other, is an important part of any social group — even the ones on reality TV. With that said, every zodiac sign has an inner struggle to overcome in order to evolve into the best, non-toxic version of itself. Sometimes that means walking away from the table, no matter how hungry you are, and finding nourishment elsewhere.
